Panegyricsof the lineages
The words of praise handed down in the Xwla and Xwéla families, as they are entered into the Association’s repository: text, language, custodian, and the recording of the recitation when one exists.
The collection of panegyrics
Each word is presented just as the repository serves it. Nothing is completed, translated, or reconstructed here.
No panegyric has been entered yet
The repository holds none to date, and the archive of the former site contains none either: the word “panegyric” does not appear in it even once. Nothing is written here in the meantime. The Xwla vocabulary already collected, however, can be consulted in the dictionary.

On Saturday 13 March 2021, at Place Nonvitcha in Grand-Popo, the Association paid tribute to Faustin ATIOGBE, known as “Adjignon Hambladji,” a performer of the traditional song in xwlagbe. These are the Association’s only two publications devoted to this oral tradition.
What this collection establishes
A repository collection, nothing more
- No panegyric is written on this page: it displays only those entered into the Association’s repository, with the language, custodian, and era exactly as they are recorded there.
- A recitation is offered for listening only if the repository serves a recording; in its absence, the transcription remains the only form available.
- The language is written XWLAGBE, the spelling used by the Association itself in its publications.
- A panegyric is a word entrusted: it enters the repository through the Bureau Exécutif Fédéral, with the name of the person who passed it on.
